Clemens Rott (クレメンス・ロット Kuremensu Rotto ) is an Austrian veteran Flame Haze and the partner of Cecilia Rodrigo after the Great War. His title is "Piercer of Hidden Arms" (戈伏の衝き手 Kafuku no Tsukite ). He only appears in Verger, a side story which occurs years before the main story's beginning.
He appears to be carefree man and talks casually. His good nature and advertence seem to be the reason why Cecilia is interested in him.
Great War's Stray ChildEdit
Cecilia Rodrigo makes an acquaintance with him during the Great War. He works as the communication staff together with her. After the war ends, Cecilia, who recently becomes Flame Haze at the start of the Great War, feels lost and is wandering alone until he asks her to come with him. She starts to have feelings for him and wants to know more about his past but he never tells much about himself. The only thing he tells her is about is his hometown in Austria.
His Death and Cecilia's DeathEdit
One year before the events of Verger, he is killed by Ōnamuchi. She is stopped by Ōnamuchi, who in turn follows his' last request to "keep Cecilia away from getting the memento no matter what". Cecilia tries many times to get to the village but fails. She later goes to Outlaw and requests for assistance. Four Flame Haze are killed in four attempts. In the fifth time, Pietro Monteverdi sends one of the newly contracted Flame Haze (having introduction letter from his former commander, Sophie Sawallisch) to her assist; she is the Flame Haze of the Nietono no Shana. Cecilia uses the young Flame Haze as the bait and imprisons her along Ōnamuchi with her Unrestricted Spell, Alcázar. She finally reached the village and obtains a wooden box containing the memento. When she is about to identify what the memento is, she is killed by the pursuing Ōnamuchi.
Powers and AbilitiesEdit
He is described to have the unnamed Power of Unrestraint which is both invisible and unknowable. This power is deadly since it's almost impossible to counter. But because of his power's nature, it is not suitable for the war that he had to fight along with comrades like the Great War. Thus, he was commissioned as the communication officer during this war.
- His name is probably a reference to an Austrian conductor and opera financier, Clemens Krauss, and Austrian composer, Hans Rott.
- He is presented in Ojō-sama no Shana short story, which is bundled inside the third Shakugan no Shana Artbook: Sōen. He is seen entering to the party arranged by the Marquis of Tötenglo (Asiz). Although this is not related to the main story, it is the only scene in which Clemens appears and talks.
