Dengeki Bunko: FIGHTING CLIMAX is a 2D fighting game developed by Ecole Software and French-bread that stars characters from ASCII Media Works' Dengeki Bunko imprint and video game company SEGA. The game was announced at Tokyo Game Show 2013, and commemorates Dengeki Bunko's 20th anniversary.[1] It was released in arcades March 18, 2014,[2] and later on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita on November 13, 2014.[3] The console version was released in North America and Europe on October 6, 2015. The Shakugan no Shana characters that appear in this crossover are Shana and Wilhelmina Carmel.
An updated version of the game, titled Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax Ignition (電撃文庫 FIGHTING CLIMAX IGNITION Dengeki Bunko Faitingu Kuraimakkusu Igunishion ), was launched on July 28, 2015 in arcades and December 17, 2015 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita.
Gameplay[]
The game is a 2D fighting game, and in arcade uses a normal eight-way joystick and four buttons. The buttons are A (being weak attack), B (for medium attack), C (strong attack), and D (for summoning support fighters). The game also allows the players to dash and back dash and have two levels of jump. Players can also unveil special Impact Skill attacks and can also use Blast icon's for different Blast attack moves.

Flame Haze of Alastor. Her mission is to destroy the Crimson Denizens, who feed on humans. She wields Nietono no Shana and loves melon bread.[5]
Shana is powerful but an easy-to-use, all-round character who has fast-moving projectiles and a long-reaching attacks.[5]

Binds the opponent with a delayed homing bandage attack. If it connects, it stops the opponent dead in their tracks for a short time, giving you an opening for some huge damage.[6]

Story[]
In original version, the story involves the malevolent entity from Zetsumu from Dengeki Gakuen RPG: Cross of Venus, which takes the form of other playable Dengeki fighters, including not just Akira Yūki from SEGA's Virtua Fighter series who was a final boss in the arcade version, but also Selvaria Bles from SEGA's Valkria Chronicles series.
In Ignition, the game's previous arcade storyline has been revoked and replaced with those from Dream Duel Mode.
Development[]
On September 21, 2013 at Tokyo Game Show 2013, during a Saturday stage event at the "Game no Dengeki" booth, the publisher ASCII Media Works and Game Developer SEGA announced the 2D side-scrolling crossover fighting game, Dengeki Bunko: FIGHTING CLIMAX. This is the 4th collaboration between ASCII Media Works' Dengeki Bunko imprint and video game developer SEGA, and it also marks the 20th anniversary of Dengeki Bunko. The first set of characters revealed at the event were Shakugan no Shana's title character Shana as a playable character and Wilhelmina Carmel as a supporting assist character, Sword Art Online's Asuna was also revealed as a playable character while the character Leafa was also support. No platform version of the game was announced during the event, however, the staff assured the fans that there will be a home console version of the game in the future and it will include more characters than just Shana, Wilhelmina, Asuna and Leafa.
On October 3, it was revealed that Magical Index's Railgun, Mikoto Misaka , and Oreimo's little sister Kirino Kōsaka will be joining the game as playable characters. Oreimo's Ruri "Kuroneko" Gokō and Index's Tōma Kamijō would also be joining the game as support characters, the first trailer of the game was also released in the same day. On October 6, Shizuo Heiwajima and Celty Sturluson from Durarara!! were revealed along with the Black Snow Princess and Haruyuki Arita from Accel World. Shizuo and Kuroyukihime were the announced playable characters while Celty and Haru were the support, while also in the same day, production for a Console or Portable version got given the green light, along with the previously unveiled arcade version of the game.
