"Shakugan no Shana-tan" (灼眼のシャナたん, Shakugan no Shana-tan) is the first episode of Shakugan no Shana-tan, a parody series of Shakugan no Shana. It depicts various scenes from the series with Shana being very small.

Summary

Sketch 1: Yuji and Shana-tan about to go to school

Yuji narrates on the background on how his world will be distruped once more, all while Shana in her deformed form is eating her melon bread. She turns to the audience, telling who is looking at, while Yuji asks who she talks to. Yuji then lifts Shana-tan on his head as they are about to go to school, with Shana-tan throwing tantrums while saying to Shut up! in a cute manner

Sketch 2: Shana-tan trains Yuji

Yuji gets hit by Shana-tan's stick while he's training. Yuji once again narrates that her powers did not change despite being small

Sketch 3: Shana-tan eating melon bread on top of Yuji's head

Shana-tan is eating melon bread on Yuji's head, while he tells her to stop eating melon bread on top of his head. Shana-tan retorts by saying that she'll eat mitarashi-dango next time she eat, but Yuji tells to her that it will make his head more sticky. Shana-tan tells to Yuji that he complains too much, but he tells her that it is not too much of a complaint. Shana-tan once again throws tantrums at Yuji, telling to shut up and that he is stupid many times. Meanwhile, Kazumi stalks on them behind a pole, telling to herself that it may be an accident that Yuji is carrying Shana-tan on his head.

Sketch 4: Shana-tan does not like Kazumi's advances towards Yuji

Kazumi gives her umeboshi rice to Yuji, which he gladly accepts. However, Shana-tan is not amused so she releases a flood of saliva onto Yuji, shocking him and Kazumi

Sketch 5: Shana-tan sharpening her Nietono no Shana

Shana-tan sharps her Nietono no Shana on Yuji's head, while he tells her to stop it. Shana-tan then declares from now on, she'll be doing nightly training on his head, by burning it with her flame wings. Yuji however tells to her that he could go bald if she does. Shana-tan once again throws tantrums at Yuji, telling him once aagin to shut up and that he will go bald many times. Meanwhile, Kazumi once again stalks on them behind a pole, telling to herself that it may be an accident that Yuji is carrying Shana-tan on his head and afterwards, changes her expression to an evil grin, telling that she will kill Shana-tan with a change in voice. While the cast credits roll, Kazumi regrets and tells that she is stupid for saying that.

Sketch 6: Alastor gets lost

Alastor, while hanging onto a seagull's beak, tells on how a crisis could befall onto Shana, then questions on where he is now, that he does not even recognize the place where he is in. It then changes to nighttime, in which Alastor tells that he must make haste to Shana before that crisis happens, but it then changes again to morning. He panics on when he should hurry, but he forgets it immediately as he is amazed by the scenery that he is in.

Trivia

• This is the only Shana-tan short in which:
  • two eyecatches of the same artwork are used.
  • there is no "Reserved for Yoshida" (吉田専用) sign shown in the pole when Kazumi is stalking.
• This is one of the three instances of Shana-tan shorts in which the intro of Yoake Umarekuru Shōjo does not play when Alastor gets lost in various places. The other times this happened is at Shakugan no Shana-tan The Movie and Shakugan no Shana-tan Revenge.
• Kazumi's personality shift in this short, as well in the succeeding shorts, is a seiyuu joke on Ayako Kawasumi, her seiyuu, since she sometimes casted on anime characters that has a dark side of personality.
