Hildegard (ヒルデガルド Hirudegarudo?) is a Flame Haze with the title "Handler of Dark Ravens" (昏鴉の御し手 Kon'a no Gyoshite?). She maintains a contract with Wodan, the Crimson Lord with the true name "Harbinger of Sorcery", who in turn resides in a brooch-shaped vessel called Hliðskjálf.

Hildegard is a woman of central European descent. She always dresses in a black mourning gown. In the light novels, her face is partially covered by a black veil that exposes her lips. However, in the anime, her face is fully covered by a black see-through veil.

She is shown to have a very calm personality, not panicking when the Andrei fortress was at siege under Bal Masqué's forces. However, she is playful in a sense, as she talked casually about chess terms with Dan Rogers before the battle and even flirted with Haborym during their battle. She has been able to form friendships with veteran Flame Haze such as Pietro MonteverdiWilhelmina Carmel and Rebecca Reed.

Over the past hundreds of years, Hildegard fought and survived through many battles, becoming a powerful Flame Haze with her signature Unrestricted Spell "Nightscape of Peaceful Death" to destroy her enemies.

Second Great WarEdit

She appears as the commander of the Andrei Fortress in Romania along with Dan Rogers. Bal Masqué's army, led by Haborym and Stolas, are deployed to attack their headquarters with an army of Denizens and artillery-type Rinne. They have a hard time protecting the fortress but eventually succeed when the enemies are ordered to draw back after Seireiden is ambushed by Khamsin Nbh'w and Rebecca Reed.

Later, upon hearing the Snake of the Festival's declaration of the Grand Order, and after the Flame Haze Army's failed mission of the sneak attack, Hildegard is seen going to the Zurich Outlaw headquarters. She joins the meeting together with the other Flame Haze and humans, discussing the tasks of the Flame Haze.

Wilhelmina CarmelEdit

She is one of Wilhelmina's acquaintances.

Pietro MonteverdiEdit

She is close to fellow Flame Haze Pietro Monteverdi, who simply calls her "Hilda". There are even times when Pietro is seen to make advances to Hildegard in a somewhat cliche manner, and gets scolded as a result.

Rebecca ReedEdit

Rebecca is one of Hildegard's friends. Like Pietro, she calls her "Hilda".

Hildegard calls Haborym the "Masked Necromancer" (仮面の妖術師 Kamen no Yōjutsu-shi?), while he and the other Crimson Denizens of Bal Masqué return the favor by calling her "Dark Lady" (昏き淑女 Kuraki shukujo?).

Powers and AbilitiesEdit

Hildegard has the ability to summon human-sized, raven-shaped shadows to battle her enemies and speak through them.

Unrestricted SpellsEdit

Nightscape of Peaceful Death (瞑目の夜景 Meimoku no Yakei?): A powerful Power of Unrestraint that, when activated, can make the shadows of the enemy turn against them. If the captive is able to overcome the shadow, it turns into small raven-like projectiles that will greatly damage them.

  • Her first name comes from a medieval composer, Hildegard of Bingen.
  • Hildegard has the same FUNimation English voice actress as Mare.
